Why Chemical/Refining

Why Chemical/Refining

Specializing in one industry allows us to be more informed and knowledgeable of the needs of our clientele. Although the economic cycles are tough, we believe the chemical industry still provides excellent career opportunities for engineers, and its size and complexity offers a wide range of employment options.

2024 Q1 Job Market Observations 2024 started with a bang. We received many new openings in early January, but our clients were selective and many of those new jobs were not filled until March. There was solid demand for engineers of all types across the US. Electrical Engineers and Process Control Engineers were in greatest demand among our clients. Many of our job openings were driven by retirements as the senior engineers retire in waves. We received searches in Olefins, Refining, Polyolefins and Specialty Chemicals. Demand was spread across all segments of the industry. Engineers who left the chemical industry for Amazon, Tesla and VC Funded Alternate Energy are starting to return to the chemical industry. They are returning for better pay and work hours and stability. There is a trend emerging that some of the Engineers who moved in the flurry of the fast-paced 2023 job market are looking again, ?because the job ended up NOT being like it was described to me on the interview?.
