About the role
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Plant Engineer to join a growing, large-scale processing facility in Northern Nevada. The role supports daily plant operations, optimizes chemical and mechanical processes, manages continuous-improvement projects, and strengthens equipment reliability and safety compliance.
This is a critical position for an engineer who thrives in a dynamic industrial environment and enjoys solving complex operational challenges from front-end design through execution.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing and processing systems—including leaching, crystallization, precipitation, solids-liquids separation, filtration and calcination—to improve yield, throughput and efficiency.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams on pumps, piping, pressure vessels, kilns, dryers and instrumentation; identify root causes of failure and implement corrective actions.
- Manage small-to-medium MOC and capital projects from conceptual design and sizing through procurement, construction, commissioning and startup.
- Participate in PHAs and HAZOPs and ensure engineering changes meet OSHA, EPA and state requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Engineering experience in chemical processing, mineral processing, refining, metallurgical or heavy industrial facilities.
- Working knowledge of fluid flow, heat transfer, mass balances, P&IDs and DCS/PLC process-control systems.
- Ability to manage engineering projects, vendor contracts and equipment specification or selection.
- Strong commitment to industrial safety protocols including LOTO, MOC, PHA and PPE.
Preferred experience
- Hydrometallurgy, brine processing, crystallization or specialty-chemical manufacturing experience.
- PE license or EIT certification.
- Familiarity with RCA and FMEA reliability tools.
